Glen Burnie DUI Attorney
The DUI Process
The DUI process begins when you were stopped for suspicion of drinking and driving. This is also where a knowledgeable Glen Burnie criminal defense lawyer can start the defense of your case, to investigate whether you were legally stopped and to aggressively challenge any tests you were given to demonstrate your intoxication level.
When you are arrested for DUI, the officer will take away your driver's license and give you a "notice of suspension" regarding your driving privileges. You will also be provided with a temporary driving permit which allows you to drive for a period of 45 days from when the notice of suspension was issued. This is the start of two separate legal actions that will be initiated against you.
The first is a motor vehicle administration hearing conducted by the Maryland MVA, designed to either uphold the suspension of your license or reinstate your driving privileges. A well-versed lawyer from Ward Pratz & Associates, P.A. can represent you at this hearing with the purpose of restoring your legal ability to drive as quickly as possible.
Criminal Defense Attorney Serving Anne Arundel County
The second legal action is conducted in the criminal courts on the DUI charge that you face. With some cases, we can get the charges dismissed and remove the need for a trial. In others, negotiation with prosecutors may be the best avenue to successfully conclude your case. When a trial is needed, we are fully prepared to fight for your best interests.
A DUI trial is conducted like any other criminal defense matter, with both sides working to prove the guilt or innocence of the defendant. Our firm keeps you informed each step of the way and works with you towards the completion of your case.
DUI convictions include a range of penalties which may include community service, large fines, mandatory alcohol education programs, suspension of your license, installation of an ignition interlock device on your vehicle and time spent in jail.
We have been serving the community since 1997 and with our knowledge of DUI laws there are methods to correctly defend against drinking and driving offenses, including multiple DUI charges.
